Winnebago CEO cautious, but encouraged

FOREST CITY, Iowa -- Winnebago Industries President and CEO Bob Olson told a local television station today that the company has seen the bottom of the recession, but they remain cautious about the recovery.

Olson told KIMT-TV that orders are up 350 percent, yet he cautioned that it could be quite a while before Winnebago is profitable again.

Dealers are buying more RVs to replenish their inventory, Olson noted. But, unless consumers start buying, that spurt in order growth will be short lived.

Although the company will be watching results of this week's Tampa Super Show for signs of growing recovery, Olson told KIMT the company must shut down its production line next week due to supply shortages.
